Meet Little Guy!

LGCastLittle Guy was a rescue dog, meaning the first time I saw him, scarred of the world outside his cage, he rescued me! It really was love at first site. When he first came to the shelter, he was afraid of everything, especially being outside on a leash. He would only lie down and shiver, and wait till he got back in his kennel to do his business. They think he came from a puppy mill, as his coat was matted and crusted over with feces, and acted like he’d never been outside a cage before. I adopted him a little more than a year ago and after lots of love, he came out of his shell and became a very friendly, happy dog, thrilled to run and play with dogs many times his size! His doggy brothers take a lot of that credit!LGCouch
Then he had his accident, trying to get out of the fenced yard to go play with the fox. He got tangled in the fencing and pulled his carpals (wrist bones) out of place. The bones and torn ligaments are too small for effective surgery, so we are hoping for the bones to fuse on their own, in their new, crooked position. He will always have a damaged foot and limp on it, but he has improved so much and I have hope for more improvement. Dogs are pretty resilient, and Little is continuing to teach me life lessons of how to deal with obstacles and that even with limitations, you can succeed, and most importantly, you can be happy with your circumstances – and don’t let anything stop you from chasing those squirrels!

Eva

evahairEva was born in December 2011 as a Husky/Lab mix pup and was named after "Eve" from the movie Wall-e since she was expected to be all white with blue eyes. She is a rare, non-barking pup who likes to chew and chase tennis balls at the dog park.

So far, in her doggy life, she has attended aEvaBoneK9 Krawl, where she ran many miles in honor of animal cruelty and domestic violence! Eva very much appreciates all the love and votes from her fans. She will continue to stay cute and sweet-loving to keep up her title of Dog of the Week!

Jesse

JesseSleepI met Jesse while I was volunteering at the kill shelter where his ex person surrendered him.  Jesse was scared, sad and unhealthy, so I decided to foster him and make sure that he was placed with the perfect family.

JesseScary

Well, he was placed with the perfect family.  We fell in love with Jesse's charisma immediately.  A month later we became foster failures and it's been pure joy ever since.  Every day he brings so much love and laughter to our family.  He is one special boy!

Scotty the Funny Little Dog

scotty_2010Scotty came to our family in 2004 after he was surrendered to the Humane Society.  He was 9-months-old and had not been socialized so he was afraid of everything until he saw our 5-year-old son!  Scotty's eyes lit up and he knew he was home with his boy!   Eight years later, Scotty still loves his boy!

Scotty went through obedience classes just to get him exposed to other dogs.  I think he was given his certificate just to get him out of the class.  He was the problem dog, never trusting the other dogs and really didn't like them.  He still doesn't like other dogs except for the ones he has lived with.   He was great with our senior Sheltie and the big goofy Sheltie we've had for 5 years. ScottyYard

He's a small 8-year-old Sheltie with a lot to say!  He loves to bark and has his own little "funny talk" that's more of a yodel in dog talk....  He loves to play hide and seek with the kids.  He thinks we are playing hide and seek every time someone counts out loud.  He loves toys, running, hiking (always with nose to the ground to sniff)  food, and his cat buddy, Bob and big brother, Riley.  He loves his family of animals and the humans!   We are so thankful to have this funny little dog!

Coco Wants a Movie!

cocoa3We got Cocoa from an animal shelter 2 years ago. She was 18 months then. I read and borrowed A Dog's Purpose from a library, and it was so adorable I just had to get my own copy. I loved the book so much, and wanted to see if there was going to be movie, so I stumbled upon adogspurpose.com and found I could win a free copy. So I decided why not? Cocoa has brought great joy to our family and has increased my love of dogs. I didn't think it was possible to love a dog as much as I do now.Cocoa2
